The BULLY Project:   Post 2 of 2

I'm interested to hear what questions you might have for any of the people in this movie.  Please pose 5 potential questions to the person or persons of your choice.
Example:  Bus Driver:  Do you know what is happening in the back of your bus?  If yes, "why would you let that go on?

5 comments:

  1. V.P.- Why do you feel that a hand shake can make everything dissappear and expect the victim to just drop everything that has been done to him?
Alex Parent's- Why stop at the V.P. if she cannot guarantee the other students be taken off the bus, when you have video proof of the behavior?? Try the superintendent or school board??
Bus- Are there working video cameras on every bus? Are they being checked when a driver reports behaviors? What are the specific consequences?
Tyler Parents- Has the school changed any of its policy after your loss?
School Districts- Why don't you hire a professional that specializes in team building to work with every grade from k-12 consistently to build community within each class at the beginning, middle and end of the year?

  2. Aex's little sister- How does it make you feel when your friends tell you they are afraid of your brother and that they think he is weird? What can you do to change their feelings toward your brother and other kids like your brother?
Bus driver- What is protocol if you see bullying while students are on your bus? Do you believe it is your job to protect students when they are in your care?
Alex's mom- What would you tell other parents who are reporting bullying and not seeing any changes?
Ja'Maya- What has this experience taught you? Do you think you got your point across? Have people stopped bullying you?
Vice Principal- It seems as though you are looking for a quick fix to bullying. Have you researched or made yourself aware of the serious side effects to bullying? Do you truly think you know what how these students who are being bullied are feeling?

  3. School Bus Driver: "Are you aware of what is going on in your bus? Why do you not intervene or at least report the bullying that is going on in the bus?"

Alex: How do you feel when your sister tells you that she gets bullied and blames it on you?

Alex parents: Are you going to stop at addressing the issue with the administrators at the school or are you going to pursue the issue with Alex and go to the district? Will you get other parents involved? Also, how will you address the situation with Alex's sister?

VP (handling cody's situation): Why would you compare Cody to the kid that has been bullying him for so long? Why would you tell him he is just like the bully when he is trying to explain to you that he has apologized before and continues to bully him? Did you really think an apology and handshake will resolve the issue? Did that situation make you feel as if you had addressed the root of the problem?

I don't know who he was but the man who made a comment on Ja'Maya's situation. He said something along the lines that nothing justified her bringing a gun and doing what she did. While she shouldn't have brought a gun, how far do you consider harm/bullying without any actual physical injuries? Do you really feel that words can cause as much harm? do you really feel that words can easily be ignored when it is occurring every single day at all times by the same people over and over?

To the administrator (VP?) that Alex mom spoke with: What if your grandkid was the one being bullied? Would you have reacted the same way? What if your kid was on the "bus with the golden students" but was being hit, pushed, stabbed, what would your reaction be then? Would you still think the kids on the bus were "golden?"

  4. Why school administrators did not intervene seriously in any of those incidents?

How could a bus driver being an adult as a witness, ignore such incidents happening inside the bus every day? Don't you think you have responsibilities towards these children so long they in your bus?

Even after reported by the parents to the bus in charge," Why didn't she bother to talk to the bus driver about the bullying incidents taking place in the bus?

How come a teacher would let go bullying incident reported by Cody? Can't she realize just an apology and handshake had no meaning for that boy whose intentions were never right? Was she resolving the issues?

  5. I think mostof my questions would be for the principal at Alex's school:

Are you aware of the impact bullying can have on a child?

Do you think teachers in your building do enough to prevent and stop bullying?

In relation to the incident with Cody, do you feel that your reaction was appropriate, and that it will prevent future incident?

Why would you spend more time reprimanding the victim of the bullying?

Who do you think is responsible for students'actions on the school bus?

My biggest question for her would be: Who's to blame for bullying? It seems she blames the victim in most cases for not standing up for themselves, not reporting it, bringing it upon themselves, etc.
